If you want to wear a swimsuit you may, most people float naked as the wet fabric will be clinging onto your skin the entire hour, the float rooms are completely private with locks on the doors. Be sure to rinse off your swimsuit during your first shower if you want to wear one!
Yes, we do need you to shower. The reason for this is to help maintain our tank's chemistry by removing any personal body products you might have on you, hair products, colognes, deodorants, perfumes, makeup, etc all must come off of your body or else it will get into our tank's water.
Some people do in fact float with their contacts in but we strongly recommend removing them prior to your float. Salt in the eyes is an unpleasant experience and while it is easy to clean out, sometimes it requires removing the contact lens and some people have dropped theirs.
As mentioned on question 2, we do need you to remove any hair products and our shampoo is designed to help get those products out. Be sure to get rid of the soap suds though!
You may be familiar with the expression salt in a wound. 1000 pounds of Epsom Salt dissolved into our water will reveal any skin irritation you have. They can be anything from paper cuts, burns, hangnails, sensitive body areas, freshly shaved skin, new tattoos, the list goes on. While most people only have a hangnail or a paper cut, we do provide white petroleum to cover up any skin irritations you might have. You might want to wait if you have a burn, surgery, or a new tattoo though.
You will need to delay your float with us if your hair dye is fresh. Fresh hair dye can run/bleed while in water. If your dye is running in the shower, it will run into our tanks contaminating the water.
Some people do have this issue with floating. While you are laying still in the water sometimes your brain won't know what to translate from your inner-ear and this can cause nausea. If you get motion sick you may want to take something like Dramamine or Bonine before your float.
